Real-time droplet sorting software

Turn your microscope into a
high-throughput sorter

DropSort processes raw fluorescence signals from PMTs, segments droplets in real time, enables multi-parameter gating, and outputs trigger signals to drive electrode-based sorting.

About

What is DropSort

DropSort is dedicated software for real-time signal processing and sorting in droplet microfluidics. It acquires raw optical fluorescence signals detected by photomultiplier tubes (PMTs), segments individual droplets from the continuous data stream, and analyzes intensity and size distributions across multiple channels.

Through an interactive gating interface, users define sorting criteria on measured droplet parameters. When a droplet matches the selected gates, DropSort outputs a real-time trigger signal to control an electrode for sorting.

Real-time processing

Continuous signal acquisition and droplet detection at up to 100 MHz sampling rate.

Multi-channel analysis

Measure fluorescence across up to 4 color channels, plus droplet length.

Desktop interface

Full experiment control from signal configuration to sorting, all from a single application.

Accessible FADS

Brings fluorescence-activated droplet sorting workflows within reach for teams working with droplet microfluidics.

How DropSort works

01

Acquire

Raw fluorescence signal from PMTs

Connect photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) to the system. DropSort digitizes and streams the raw fluorescence signal in real time.

02

Segment

Detect and measure droplets in real time

Droplet boundaries are detected in the continuous signal stream, isolating each droplet event with precise timing.

03

Gate

Analyze distributions and define sorting criteria

Extract droplet features — intensity, width, multi-channel ratios. Visualize population distributions and define sorting gates interactively.

GATE
04

Sort

Output trigger signal to electrode

Droplets matching the gate criteria receive a real-time trigger signal to the sorting electrode, deflecting them into the collection channel.
